ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 6 Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball defeated (RV) Brandeis, 83-58, on Friday evening in front of a packed Field House. The Bears are now 15-2 on the year with a 5-1 record in UAA play. This season, 10 of WashU's wins have been by 20 or more points.
First-year
Connor May led all scorers with 18 points to go with four rebounds and two assists. Senior
Hayden Doyle scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds, senior
Drake Kindsvater had 13 points, five rebounds and a game-high five assists and junior
Yogi Oliff scored 10 points with four rebounds and three assists.
WashU opened the game with an 8-0 run, starting with an and-one play from Kindsvater. May put in a floater and Doyle drilled a shot from distance, prompting a Brandeis timeout.
The Judges came back to cut the Bears' lead to 10-8 at the 13:56 mark and following a layup from first-year
Lleyton Thomas-Johnson, Brandeis' Alex Zakheim hit a 3-pointer to make it a one-point, 12-11 game.
Up one point with under 12 minutes to play, the Bears went on an 11-0 run. Oliff started the run with a pair of free throws before Doyle, sophomore
Ryan Cohen and May hit three 3-pointers in a row for a 25-13 lead with 9:07 on the clock.
Two 3-pointers from the Judges brought Brandeis within six points, 27-21, with 6:48 on the clock.

George Gale started a 7-0 run for WashU. Junior
Calvin Kapral put in a layup and Kindsvater followed with a 3-pointer on an assist from Cohen.
The Judges closed the Bears' lead to single digits with an Ethan Edwards layup at 2:08, making it a 34-25 game. WashU went on to score five-straight, starting with a 3-pointer from Cohen, followed by a pair of free throws from Kindsvater, putting the Bears ahead 39-25 with 1:29 remaining in the first half.
Doyle netted the final Bears' points of the half, hitting a 3-pointer with 41 seconds remaining.
The Bears and the Judges exchanged baskets in the opening minutes of the second half. With 15:28 on the clock, May scored five-straight points with a layup followed by a 3-pointer for a 53-35 WashU lead.
Midway through the half, Oliff put up a floater and Cohen drilled a 3-pointer for a 61-44 lead. After a Judges' layup, Kindsvater slammed one home and May followed with a 3-pointer for a 20-point, 66-46 lead at 8:31.
WashU continued to maintain a 20+ lead as the clock ticked down. At the 4:46 mark, Kindsvater converted an and-one play and Oliff followed with a layup for a 79-54 margin.
Sophomore
Lucas Vogel and first-year Anthony Pryzbilla netted the final four points of the game, pushing WashU's final to 83-58.
The Bears shot 31-for-63 (49.2%) from the field and 13-for-27 (48.1%) from 3-point range. WashU held a lead the entire game and out-rebounded the Judges 39-29.
WashU is home again on Sunday against No. 5 NYU.
