Men's Soccer Falls Short to North Park on the Road

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team wrapped up their first road trip of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling to the North Park Vikings (2-0-2) in Chicago, Ill. The home team scored early and kept the Bears (2-1-1) off the scoreboard for the win.

The Vikings were able to find the back of the net in just the second minute of the contest to put themselves ahead 1-0. A penalty kick in the fifth minute by North Park was stopped by junior goalie Adam Mallalieu, preserving the one goal difference.

In the 15th minute, the Vikings used a bounce around off a corner kick before chipping in a goal for the 2-0 lead.

Junior Zach Susee provided the lone shot on goal for the Bears. Mallalieu made four saves while playing the first half before sophomore Owen Ross played the second half, making one save.

WashU will hit the road again on Wednesday, September 11 when they travel to take on the Greenville University Panthers at 7 p.m. on Francis Field in Greenville, Ill.
