ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated nearby foe Webster, 3-0, on Wednesday evening at World Wide Technology Soccer Park. The Bears are now 9-0-1 on the season.
Junior
Grace Ehlert put the Bears ahead in the 20
th minute, scoring off an assist from first-year
Olivia Clemons.
Ehlert struck again in the 76
th minute with a low left shot on another pass from Clemons, giving WashU a 2-0 advantage.
Clemons scored her team and conference-leading 10
th goal of the season, putting the Bears up 3-0.
The Bears registered 43 total shots with 26 on goal, while the Gorloks had seven. WashU also earned 11 corner kicks to Webster's five.
Clemons finished with four shots including three on goal, with one goal. Sophomore
Sophie Viscovich also had four shots with three on goal. Junior
Kaci Karl recorded three shots, all on goal, while Ehlert had a team-high seven shots including four on goal, with two goals. First-year
Cami Colpitts registered eight shots with four on goal.
Graduate goalkeeper
Sidney Conner recorded three saves, with the first one in the 10
th minute on a Payton Montana shot. She made her second save in the 50
th minute on a Mya Stegen shot and the final save in the 84
th minute on a Grace Rodgers shot.
The Bears are back at home on Tuesday with 5 p.m. match against Greenville, in the final tune-up before beginning UAA play four days later. The game against the Panthers will be the Mental Health Awareness/THO game.
