ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The No. 8 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis dropped its dual match to No. 3 University of Chicago, 6-3, Saturday, April 13. After the setback, WashU's record now sits at 10-9 on the year, while the Maroons' record climbed to 15-1.
Doubles
The Maroons took all three doubles matches to snag the 3-0 lead heading into the singles portion of the match.
Sophomore
Colin Fox and senior
Gaurav Singh lost, 8-2, against Andrei Leonov and Pat Otero at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomore
Eric Kuo and junior
Scott Yamamoto dropped the 8-5 decision to Robert Zhang and Derek Hsieh.
Singles
Phillips, playing at No. 1 singles, notched three-set, 6-3, 6-7 (7-2), 12-10 win against Emil Grantcharov.
At No. 4 singles, sophomore
Eric Kuo took down Ajer Sher in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Senior
Sergiu Celebidachi spun the 6-4, 6-3, victory against John Walentowicz at No. 5 singles.
Sophomore
Colin Scruggs dropped his match at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1, against Hsieh.
Singh dropped his No. 3 singles match to Asokumar, 7-5, 6-2.
Junior
John Fakouri came up short in his three-set, 6-2, 5-7, 7-5, match at No. 6 singles against Otero.
The Bears will take a week off before returning to action on Monday, April 22 when WashU will host Division II McKendree University. First serve from Tao Tennis Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.
