ST. LOUIS, Mo. - After sweeping the doubles matches, the No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team could not complete the victory as No. 9 Trinity (Texas) University stole the 4-3 win, Saturday, March 30 at Tao Tennis Center.
With the setback, WashU's record sits at 9-7 on the year.
Doubles
Utilizing the Division I scoring system, WashU swept the three doubles matches to secure the one available doubles point.
Senior
Gaurav Singh and sophomore
Colin Fox secured the 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles against Ethan Flores and Jared Perry.
Singles
Phillips took care of Perry at No. 1 singles, securing the 6-1, 7-5 victory.
Sophomore
Eric Kuo made quick work of Dhanani, earning the straight set sweep, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
Graduate student
Sergiu Celebidachi fell short at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2, against Connor Whittington.
Sophomore
Colin Scruggs dropped a heartbreaker at No. 3 singles, falling by set scores of 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5, against Chang.
Junior
John Fakouri came up short in a three-set affair, 6-0, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 to Flores at No. 5 singles.
Hester dropped his match at No. 6 singles against Liao by set scores of 7-5 and 6-3.
WashU will next host Principia College, for a Senior Day showdown, Monday, April 8. First serve from Tao Tennis Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.
