GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior
Alex McCormick highlighted the final day of the 2024 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, winning a national title in the 200 backstroke. The Bears wrapped up the week in 11
th place with a total of 155 points.
McCormick raced to a time of 1:43.40, breaking his own program record to become the 11
th national champion in men's swimming and diving program history. He is the first national champion for the program since 2019.
Teammate and fellow senior
Kyle Wolford joined McCormick on the podium, finishing third with a time of 1:45.35 to achieve All-American status.
The 400 freestyle relay team of junior
Danny Sibley, senior
Austin Bick, junior
Justin Rockaway and sophomore
Ethan Feng finished second in the consolation final and 10
th overall with a time of 2:59.45.
Junior
Ryan Hillery claimed 16
th in the 1,650 freestyle, racing to a time of 15:52.55.
In total, the Bears had eight First Team All-Americans and 18 All-America Honorable Mentions.
