GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming and diving team racked up 53 points on the third day of the 2024 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. The Bears are in 13
th place with 104 points.
Prior to competition, senior
Alex McCormick received the ELITE 90 Award. This award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships. McCormick is a mechanical engineering major and holds a 4.0 GPA. He is the first person in swimming and diving program history to win the award.
McCormick also headlined the day in the pool, finishing third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 47.09. For the second time this week, McCormick broke his own program record and earned a spot on the podium.
Senior
Kyle Wolford won the consolation final and finished ninth overall in the 100 backstroke, racing to a time of 47.89.

Mark Lipkin finished fifth to reach the podium with a time of 6:33.66.
The Bears wrap up the NCAA Championships tomorrow with the following events: 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 400 freestyle relay and 1,650 freestyle.
