AZUSA, Calif. - Looking for its second victory over a ranked opponent in as many days, the No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team dropped the 8-1 decision to No. 6 Bowdoin College, Wednesday, March 13. With the loss, WashU's record sits at 8-4.
Doubles:
Bowdoin won all three doubles matches to take the 3-0 lead heading into the singles portion of the match.
At No. 1 doubles, senior
Gaurav Singh and sophomore
Colin Fox fell to Tristan Bradley and Reid Staples, 5-8.
Singles:
Sophomore
Stefan Hester earned WashU's lone point of the day at No. 6 singles. Hester took down Jack Flores in three, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
Senior
Jared Phillips dropped a close match to T. Bradley at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-7 (5-7).
Sophomore
Eric Kuo fell short at No. 2 singles against Staples, 4-6, 0-6.
Playing at No. 3 singles, sophomore
Colin Scruggs came up short against Kneiss, 6-7 (1-7), 3-6.
Celebidachi fell in three to E. Bradley, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
After winning the first set, Singh could not close out his match at No. 5 singles as he dropped the 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 decision to Mendelson.
WashU will close out its spring break trip with a rematch against No. 11 Sewanee, Friday, March 15. First serve from Munson and Bavougian Tennis Complex is scheduled for 9 a.m. PT.
