CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 17 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team fell to the defending national champions, No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 6-3 on Monday. The Bears are now 5-2 overall.
Doubles
Karen Gao and
Eleanor Archer picked up a point at doubles, defeating No. 6 Ella Brissett and Lindsay Eisenman 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
Eliana Hanna and
Amber Edmonds, ranked No. 21 nationally, fell to Alisha Chulani and Nikolina Batoshvilli 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Nina Moravek and
Ainsley Heidbreder lost to Katherine Wurster and Audrey Yoon 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Singles
Gao topped No. 36 Brissett 8-3, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while Edmonds defeated Anna Petrescu 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
Moravek fell to No. 9 Yook 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Archer lost to No. 21 Chulani 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
Hanna lost to Selby 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and
Emily Chiasson fell to Batoshvili 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
The Bears continue their spring break trip with a 2 p.m. PT time match tomorrow against No. 27 Caltech.
