Three From Men's Basketball Earn All-UAA Honors

Rochester, N.Y. – Three members from the Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team earned All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors, the conference office announced Tuesday.
 
Junior Hayden Doyle received an All-UAA First Team nod while sophomore Yogi Oliff was named to the Second Team. Sophomore Calvin Kapral picked up an Honorable Mention.
 
Doyle's First Team selection marks the third-straight season he has been recognized on the all-conference teams. Doyle was named Rookie of the Year and an Honorable Mention selection as a first-year and picked up a Second Team honor as a sophomore.
 
Doyle has played and started in all 25 games for the Bears, totaling a team-high 811 minutes with an average of 32.4 minutes we game. The Brookfield, Wis. Native has scored 385 points this season for an average of 154 points per game. Additionally, he has pulled down a total of 125 rebounds for 5.0 rebounds per game.
 
Doyle has dished out 84 assists and his 3.1 assists per game (UAA contests only) ranks sixth among UAA players. He has also recorded 26 steals and eight blocks. Doyle is now seven points away from reaching the 1,000 point plateau.
 
This marks Oliff's first-career All-UAA honor following a stellar sophomore season. Oliff is a major presence on both sides of the ball, averaging 6.2 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game. Last weekend, in back-to-back games against NYU and Brandeis, Oliff ripped down a career-high 17 rebounds per game which moved him up to second among UAA players for rebounding with 8.1 rebounds per game (UAA contests only). Oliff has played and started in all 25 games this season and leads the team with 35 teams and 97 assists.
 
It is also the first All-UAA honor of Kapral's career. After serving as a reserve as a first-year, Kapral has played and started in all 25 games for WashU this season. Kapral sits at a season-average of 10.5 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. He has 10 blocks on the year, nine assists and 10 steals.
 
In total, Doyle, Oliff and Kapral have accounted for 802 of the Bears' 1,852 points this season as well as 434 of WashU's 987 rebounds.
 
This trio and the Bears are set to face off against Wisconsin Lutheran at 6:50 p.m. on Friday evening in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of that game will go on to face the winner of Dubuque and Illinois College on Saturday at 6:50 p.m.
