BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team continued its indoor slate with a road meet at Illinois Wesleyan University's annual I-55 Tri, Saturday, January 20. The Bears won the tri meet, accumulating a total of 112 points. Out of 15 scored events, the Bears won 11.
WashU competed alongside host, IWU, and Elmhurst University.
Saturday's Top Finishers:
60 Meters:
200 Meters:
- The Bears generated second and third in the 200-meter race
- Stewart crossed the finish line with a time of 25.98, for a runner-up finish
- Gay snagged third (26.35)
- WashU registered the top five marks in the 3,000-meter run
- Jillian Heth paced the field with her winning mark of 10:18.54
- Katie Rector earned runner-up with a time of 10:23.76
- Avery McCammon claimed third (10:32.19), while Julia Patterson took fourth (10:40.53)
- Loftus notched fifth as she turned in a time of 10:41.60
60 Meter Hurdles:
- WashU had a pair of athletes in the 60-meter hurdles finals
- Charis Riebe generated a fifth-place finish (9.97)
- Holland Kantar took sixth with a mark of 10.19
4 x 400 Relay:
- The Bears took the first four spots in the 4 x 400-meter relay
- The team of Spytek, Christopher, Schultz, and Kelley won with a time of 3:56.52
- The group of Gayle Henderson, Gorton, Ally Sarussi, and Elizabeth Wagner took second in the event (4:04.37)
High Jump:
- Wright was the top finisher for the Bears
- Wright earned third in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m
- Olivia Theisen (1.45m) and Maddie Moenickheim (1.45m) tied for fourth
- WashU took the top three spots in the long jump
- Ebun Opata won the event with a leap of 5.42m
- Theisen grabbed runner-up (5.32m), while Maya Davis earned third (5.26m)
Triple Jump:
- Opata earned her second event victory of the day in the triple jump
- Opata took down the field with a distance of 12.11m
Shot Put:
- The Bears notched the top three positions in the shot put
- Jenae Bothe won the event with a heave of 13.17m
- Mikayla Wise hauled in second (12.04m), while Taylor Simpson secured third (11.77m)
Weight Throw:
- In the weight throw, Wise grabbed runner-up (14.31m)
- Bothe registered third (13.78m), while Simpson garnered fourth (13.07m)
1,200 Meters:
- Sarussi won the 1,200-meter race with a time of 3:38.28
- Rector claimed runner-up (3:39.59), while Teixeira-DaSilva secured third (3:41.48)
- Virgina Pridgen recorded a fourth-place finish (3:42.97)
