Orlando, Fla. – The No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team concluded its season with a 5-4 loss to No. 6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Elite Eight. The Bears end the year with a 19-7 dual record.
The Bears fell behind 2-1 following doubles play. The lone win for WashU was at second doubles as
Gaurav Singh and
Scott Yamamoto defeated Ian Freer and Morgan Schilling 8-4.
Phuc Huynh and
Abhi Ramireddy fell to Matthew Robinson and Christian Settles 8-3 at first doules and
Pato Garcia Muriel and
Colin Scruggs lost to Advik Mareedu and Warren Pham 8-0 at third doubles.
Huynh defeated Mareedu 7-5, 7-5 at first singles and Ramireddy topped Robinson 6-4, 6-2 at second singles.
Jared Phillips fell to Freer 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 at third singles and Singh lost to Settles 6-3, 6-2 at fourth singles.
Scruggs lost to Pham 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 at fifth singles.
Eric Kuo defeated Daniel Blackman 7-6, 6-4 at sixth singles.
CMS moves on to play Tufts on Monday morning.
