Altamonte Springs, Fla. – The No. 17 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team fell to No. 18 NYU 5-3 at the UAA Championships, finishing fourth overall.
Ainsley Heidbreder and
Nina Moravek picked up the lone win at doubles, defeating Jimena Menendez and Anastasiia Balyk 8-5 at third doubles.
Karen Gao and
Eliana Hanna fell to Ida Krause and Dakota Fordham 8-1 at first doubles while
Katherine Johnston and Amber Edmons lost to Molly Heber and Karina Jensrud 8-1 at second doubles.
Johnston notched the first win in singles, defeating Menendez 6-1, 6-2 at fourth singles. Hanna then fell to Fordham 6-1, 7-5 at second singles and Moravek defeated Jensrud 6-2, 6-3 at third singles.
Gao fell to Kruase 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 at first singles and
Sophia Huynh lost to Heber 6-4, 6-4 at sixth singles.
Edmonds match against Aditi Narayan at fifth singles went unfinished once NYU clinched the match.
The Bears now wait to see if they receive a bid to the NCAA Championships.
