Chicago, Ill. – The No. 18 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team defeated North Central 9-0 on Friday afternoon at Naperville Tennis Club.
Nina Moravek and
Ainsley Heidbreder picked up the first point at third doubles, taking down Nina Patience and Mikayla Edquiban 8-3.
Amber Edmonds and
Katherine Johnston followed with a win at second doubles, beating Kensington Payne and Anastasia Bozovic 8-3.
Karen Gao and
Eliana Hanna defeated Abigail Penados and Natalie Bassett 8-7 (7-1) at first doubles to take the 3-0 edge.
Johnston notched the first win for the Bears at singles, defeating Payne 6-0, 6-0 at third singles, followed by Edmonds who topped Edquiban 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles.
Sophia Huynh picked up the win over Patience at fifth singles and
Carolyn Tsung beat Kayla McSweeney 6-1, 6-0 at sixth singl.es
Gao defeated Abigail Penados 6-4, 5-7, 10-2 at first singles and Moravek notched the final win of the day over Bassett 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 at second singles.
WashU takes on No. 1 Chicago tomorrow at 2 p.m. at XS Tennis.
