No. 2 Men's Tennis Splits on Final Day of Spring Break Trip

Lake Nona, Fla. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team split on its final day of its spring break trip, defeated Wesleyan 6-3 before falling to Division II St. Thomas Aquinas 6-3.
 
Match 1: WashU 6, Wesleyan 3        
The Bears started the match with wins at second and third doubles to go up 2-1.
 
Gaurav Singh and Scott Yamamoto defeated Harry Collomb and Chase Kasday 8-4 at second doubles while Colin Scruggs and Pato Garcia Muriel beat Tai MacDonald and Max Lustgarted 8-4 at third doubles.
 
Abhi Ramireddy and Phuc Huynh fell to JT Bilski and Ben Mitchell 8-4 at first doubles.
 
Ramireddy notched a win over Bilskey 6-4, 6-4 at first singles and Huynh defeated Mitchell 7-5, 6-1 at second seconds. Singh topped Collomb 6-2, 6-2 at third singles and Eric Kuo beat Lustgarten 6-0, 6-3 and fifth singles.
 
Scruggs fell to MacDonald 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 at fourth singles and James Shaheen lost to Harry Portnoy 7-5, 6-4 at sixth singles.
 
Match 2: St. Thomas Aquinas 6, WashU 3
The Bears went up 2-1 in doubles, picking up wins at second and third doubles.
 
Matias Maule and Kuo defeated Tobias Fuerschuss and Don Vinz Lominoque 6-2 at second doubles and Akshay Saluja and Jeremy Ouyang topped Ondreg Sramek and Tony Khamassi 6-3 at third doubles.
 
Lucas Guy and Henri Ohl fell to Odysseas Papaioannou and Ludovico Truffelli 6-2 at first doubles.
 
Garcia Muriel notched the lone singles win for the Bears, defeating Fuerschuss 6-4, 6-3 at second singles.
 
Kuo fell to Papaioannou 6-2, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) at first singles and Case Fagan lost to Lennart Lehman 6-3, 7-5 at third singles. Ouyang was defeated by Sramek 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 at fourth singles and Maule lost to Lominoque 0-6, 6-2, 7-5 at fifth singles. Saluja fell to Ivan Laiz 0-6, 6-1, 6-4 at sixth singles.
 
The Bears return home on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. match against McKendree at Dwight Davis.
