Men's Swimming and Diving

McCormick, Kelber Finish in Top Five on Day 1 of NCAA Championships

Greensboro, N.C. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming and diving team sits in 11th place following the first day of the NCAA Championships, held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
 
Junior Alexander McCormick finished third in the 200 IM, swimming to a time of 1:47.18, tying the program record. It is his second-career All-American honor.
 
Senior Mason Kelber finished fourth in the 500, racing to a time of 4:23.16, setting a new program record and earning his 10th career All-American honor. He has reached All-America status four years in a row in the event.
 
Sophomore Pace Edwards finished eighth in the consolation final and 16th overall in the 500, racing to a time of 4:30.08 to earn Second Team All-America.
 
Women
On the women's side, first-year Rin Iimi finished sixth in the consolation final and 14th overall in the 200 IM, racing to a time of 2:06.37 to earn Second Team All-America.
 
Action begins tomorrow morning. The Bears have swimmers in the women's 200 freestyle relay, the women's 400 IM, men's 400 IM, men's 100 butterfly, women's 200 freestyle, men's 200 freestyle women's 400 medley relay and men's 400 medley relay.
