Waltham, Mass. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team sits in second place with 41 points following day one of the UAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Senior
Ella Behrens finished second in the 5,000m run, racing to a time of 16:59.13. The top five times beat the previous meet record, set back in 2013.
The distance medley relay team of
Lindsay Ott,
Nicole Stewart,
Emma Kelley and
Emily Konkus took second place, racing to a time of 11:41.35.
Sophomore
Yasmin Ruff took second in the pole vault, clearing 11-09.00. The winner, Susannah Truitt of Chicago, cleared 12-00.75.
Junior
Ebun Opata finished third in the long jump, leaping 17-08.75. Carnegie's Elizabeth Barre won with a jump of 18-03.25.
Sophomore
Taylor Simpson finished seventh in the weight throw, recording a throw of 14.26m.
The Bears had three runners finish in the top eight in the preliminaries of the 60m, who will run in the final tomorrow. First-year
Jasmine Wright ran the fourth-fasted time of 7.76 while senior
Mycah Clay ran the sixth-fastest time of 7.82. Sophomore
Nicole Stewart ran the seventh-fastest time of 7.84.
Three runners also qualified for tomorrow's 200m final, led by sophomore
Lauren Gay who ran the second-fastest time of 25.44. Stewart ran the third-fastest time of 25.50 and first-year
Kylie Spytek ran the fifth-fastest time of 25.54.
Kelley, a junior, posted the top time in the 400m preliminaries, running a 56.75. Spytek finished with the second-fastest time of 57.36 to also advance to tomorrow's final.
Senior
Aoife Dunne ran the fastest preliminary time in the 800m, racing to a time of 2:12.89. Junior
Ally Sarussi finished with the third-fastest preliminary time of 2:13.98 and senior
Sophie Fox finished with the sixth-fastest preliminary time of 2:17.96.
Junior
Charis Riebe ran the fastest preliminary time in the 60m hurdles, racing to a time of 8.91. Gay also reached the finals, posting the sixth-fastest time of 9.22.
