Chicago, Ill. – The No. 13 Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming and diving team finished third with 478 points at the Midwest Invitational, hosted by the University of Chicago. Chicago won the event with 739 points.
Day 1
The Bears racked up 180 points on day one for second place, not far behind first-place Case Western Reserve University with 196 points.

Andy Zhu won the 200 freestyle relay, racing to a time of 1:25.50.

Ethan Feng hit an NCAA B cut and won the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.79. Junior
Matthew Larsen took second in 1:54.16 and Zhu finished fifth in 1:55.43.

Kenneth Yeh was the top finisher for the Bears in the 500 freestyle, taking sixth in 4:44.29.
Gomez was the top finisher for WashU in the 50 freestyle, taking sixth in 21.27. He went on to hit an NCAA B cut of 49.02 in a time trial of the 100 butterfly.
Little swam a time trial in the 100 breaststroke, finishing fourth with a time of 59.45.
Day 2
Feng won his second race of the week, taking first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.44. Rockaway finished third with a time of 1:41.31.
Larsen led the field in the 400 IM, winning in 4:04.60. Little took fifth with a time of 4:09.98.
The Bears' team of Ferry, Rockaway, Zhu and Little claimed first in the 400 freestyle relay, with a time of 3:11.51.
WashU's team of Gomez, Wierschem, Zhu and Yeh took third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:36.75.
Gomez was the top finisher for the Bears in the 100 butterfly, taking third in 49.15. Zhu took eighth in 50.96 while Wierschem finished ninth in 51.10.
Wood was the top finisher for WashU in the 100 backstroke, finishing fifth with a time of 51.89.
Yeh took fifth in the 1,650 freestyle, racing to a time of 16:37.77.
Wierschem finished fifth in the 100 freestyle, racing to a time of 47.38.
Zhu took third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:07.43.
The Bears now break from competition until the NCAA Championships which begin on March 15.
