St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated Calvin 4-1 on Friday morning to advance to the Elite 8 for the 13th time in program history.

The Bears will play the winner of Loras and UW-La Crosse tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will head to the Final Four in Salem, Va. beginning on Nov. 30.

With less than two minutes left in the first half, Calvin scored the equalizer as Katherine Bergman scored on a pass from Lindsey Houtsma to make it a 1-1 game at the break.

Fired up following the halftime break, the Bears scored what would be the game-winning goal just 39 seconds into the second half. Clayton dribbled around Calvin defenders and fired a hard shot in to give WashU the lead.

WashU added its first insurance goal in the 71st minute as Kate Flynn scored a long ball from an Ella Koleno pass to make it a 3-1 game.

Clayton went on to score her team-leading ninth goal of the season in the 70th minute to give the Bears a 4-1 lead which held until the end.
