Women's Track and Field Wins I-55 Triangular

Bloomington, Ill. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's indoor track and field team won the I-55 Triangular on Saturday, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. The Bears racked up 97.5 points, beating second-place University of Chicago by nearly 30 points.
 
Track
Aoife Dunne won the 1,200m run in 3:35.87. The Bears took four of the top five places with Anna Karner claiming third in 3:49.03, Danielle Schultz finishing fourth in 3:49.93 and Virginia Pridgen taking fifth in 3:52.58.
 
Emma Kelley led the field in the 400m, winning in 57.60 and ranks fourth nationally in the event. Kylie Spytek took second in 59.02, ranking 15th nationally and Ally Sarussi finished third in 1:01.71.
 
Dunne – who ranks third nationally in the event – won the 800m, posting a time of 2:15.60. Sophie Fox claimed third in 2:19.50 which ranks 11th nationally.
 
The 4x400 team of Spytek, Dunne, Fox and Kelley cruised to a win with a time of 3:58.62 which ranks third nationally.
 
Lauren Gay finished second in the 60m hurdles in 9.07 which ranks 21st nationally and Mycah Clay took third in the 60m in 7.90.
 
Helena Teixeria-Dasilva finished second in the mile, posting a time of 5:13.98. Nicole Stewart finished second in the 200m with a time of 26.11.
 
Emily Konkus took third in the 3,000m, posting a time of 9:55.05 which is sixth nationally and ranks fourth in program history. Ella Behrens also posted a top-10 mark with a third-place finish in 9:59.37, ranking seventh in program history.
 
Field
Ebun Opata – who currently ranks third nationally – finished first in the long jump, taking a 5.59-meter leap.
 
Opata also took first in the triple jump with a 12.10-meter finish, which ranks second nationally. Diya Shadaksharappa took third with a mark of 10.99 meters.
 
Miku Okada took third in the high jump, hitting a mark of 1.60 meters, now tied for No. 6 in WashU program history and ranking 25th nationally.
 
Yasmin Ruff won the pole vault, clearing 3.80 meters which ranks third nationally.
 
Jenae Both finished second in the shot put with a throw of 12.53m and Taylor Simpson took third with a throw of 11.24m.
 
The Bears travel to Rose-Hulman on Friday for a Dual Meet.
