St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 11 Washington University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Fontbonne on Monday afternoon. The Bears are now 1-0-2 on the season.

Maggie Brett scored her second goal of the season and the lone WashU goal of the game just 4:32 in, as she took a pass from sophomore
Gaelen Clayton and fired it into the back of the net.
The Bears held off the Griffins to hold onto the lead until the 64
th minute when Caroline Neal fired a hard shot into the net on a pass from Krystal Kohensky.
Although the Bears outshot Fontbonne 9-6 with three more shots on goal, they were unable to score the go-ahead. WashU forced Fontbonne goalkeeper Mary Beers to make five save on the day with two in the first half and three in the second.
Neither team earned a corner kick in the first half but WashU recorded two in the second and Fontbonne had one.
In the net, junior goalkeeper
Sidney Conner made two saves, including an athletic grab far above her head.
The Bears now get ready to travel to California for games against Cal. Lutheran on Friday at 7 p.m. and Occidental on Sunday at 11 a.m.
