Granville, Ohio – The No. 20 Washington University in St. Louis swimming and diving team finished fifth with 819 points at the Denison Invitational.
The day started with the 1,650 freestyle. First-year
Anna Fonda was the top finisher for the Bears, finishing 11
th place with a time of 17:26.78.
Rin Iimi took 13
th in 17:42.78 while
Kiara Crumbley finished 14
th with a time of 17:52.31.
Sam Auditore took 17
th in 19:21.28.
First-year
Ali Roche was the top finisher for WashU in the 200 backstroke, finishing third in the B final and 12
th overall in 2:03.80.
Isabella Barrientos took fourth in the B final and 13
th overall with a time of 2:04.22 while
Alice Han finished 15
th in 2:05.02.
Sophomore
Lauren Antonowich finished 17
th in the 100 freestyle in 52.51.
First-year
Avery Dixon was the top Bears' finisher in the 200 breaststroke, taking 16
th overall in 2:22.91.
Abby Liff finished 17
th with a time of 2:24.38 and Iimi took 18
th in 2:26.49.
First-year
Natalie Klaas was the top WashU finisher in the 200 butterfly, finishing 13
th with a time of 2:12.22.
The day wrapped up with the 400 freestyle relay. The team of
Yasmeen Ibrahim,
Mikayla Klein,
Noelle DiClemente and Roche finished sixth with a time of 3:31.65, cutting nearly six seconds off the preliminary time. The team of Iimi, Antonowich, Fonda and
Kayleigh Lewis took seventh with a time of 3:33.85.
DIVING
The WashU divers wrapped up the Grinnell Invitational with the 1-meter board.
After winning the 3-meter board yesterday,
Rosie Finglass also won the 1-meter with a score of 430.90, hitting an NCAA cut and setting a new meet record.
Noa Miller took second, also hitting an NCAA cut with a score of 418.20.
WashU now has a competition break for just over a month. The Bears return on January 7 with a home meet against Rhodes College at 1 p.m.
