Granville, Ohio – The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming and diving team finished third with 1,823 points at the Denison Invitational. The top three teams were separated by a total of 23 points, with Denison in first with 1,846 points and Emory in second with 1,841.5 points.
Sophomore
Ryan Hillery finished second and hit an NCAA B cut in the 1,650 freestyle, swimming to a time of 15:533.58.
Jeffrey Forbes also hit a B cut in 15:51.93 while first-year
Orluke Borjigin swam to a B cut time of 15:58.64. Junior
Brendan Long rounded out the B cuts in the event for WashU, taking ninth in 16:05.94.

Alexander McCormick won the 200 backstroke, hitting an NCAA B cut and setting a new pool record with a time of 1:44.94. Junior
Kyle Wolford finished ninth in the event with a 1:52.59 while senior
Nolan Shields took 14
th overall in 1:53.62.

Austin Bick was the top finisher for WashU in the 100 freestyle, taking sixth in 45.45. First-year
Nicolas Gomez finished seventh in 45.46 while sophomore

Kai Taft won the B final, taking 10
th overall in 45.40.
Sophomore
Jonathan Kim was the top finisher for the Bears in the 200 breaststroke, winning the B final with a B cut time of 2:01.46. Junior
Mason Rhode finished 15
th in 2:05.27.
First-year
Matthew Walker won the 200 butterfly, racing to a B cut time of 1:46.71. Sophomore
Danny Sibley took seventh in 1:05.88 while Hillery finished eighth in 1:51.92 and
Jonathan Ma took ninth in 1:53.07.
The Bears wrapped up the day with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Gomez, Bick, Edwards and Taft raced to a B cut time of 2:59.81. The team of
Kai Garren,
Reece Bends,
Justin Rockaway and
Mark Lipkin finished fifth in 3:02.84.
DIVING
Elliot Polikowski finished fifth on the 1-meter board at the Grinnell Invitational, racking up 311.75 points.
The Bears are back in action on January 7 with a home meet against Rhodes at 1 p.m.
