St. Louis, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team rolled to a 89-56 win over Principia in its home finale of the 2022 calendar year. The Bears are now 7-2 on the season.
In a textbook example of a team win, 12 Bears got on the board with three recording double-figure scoring days. Sophomore
Drake Kindsvater put up another solid scoring effort with 13 points, and first-year standout
Will Grudzinski followed up last weekend's record-tying shooting performance with 11 points off the bench.
Graduate student
Charlie Jacob got the Bears rolling early with two three-pointers in the first four minutes of the game. Jacob finished with a team-high 17 points and six assists, posting a game-high 25.0 player efficiency score in another well-rounded performance.
Senior
Nate Bloedorn also got in on the early scoring action with a layup eight minutes into the game, finishing the game with ninre points on perfect field goal shooting.
The Bears started to pull away from the Panthers behind a Kindsvater layup with 9:33 left in the first half. Sparked by Kindsvater's score and a tough basket by first-year
Calvin Kapral in the paint, the Bears went on a 29-8 scoring run to close out the half, entering halftime with a 24-point lead over Principia.
Coming out of halftime, WashU and Principia went shot-for-shot, highlighted by a stepback three-pointer by Principia's Jake Kempf and a layup by WashU sophomore
Jake Wolf. The Bears continued to pull away from the Panthers with a 12-2 scoring run midway through the second half. Sophomore
Hayden Doyle kept the foot on the gas with a steal and layup with 7:52 remaining in the game, pushing the WashU lead to 30. Junior forward

Kevin Davet also netted baskets towards the end of the game, adding the finishing touches to a one-sided Bears victory.
Team offense and defense were the keys to the game for WashU, as the Bears forced 15 turnovers and the WashU bench outscored Principia's 42-13.
Next, WashU takes on Westminster College (MO) on December 30 on the road. The Bears return home on January 7 to begin the UAA slate against Chicago at 3 p.m.
