Granville, Ohio – The No. 20 Washington University in St. Louis women's swimming and diving team sits in fifth of five teams with 162 points following day one of the Denison Invitational. Host-team Denison is in first with 665 points.
In the first swimming event of the day, the 200 freestyle relay, the team of
Andrea Leng,
Lauren Antonowich,
Mikayla Klein and
Kayleigh Lewis finished eighth with a time of 1:36.64, notching 50 points for the Bears. The Bears finished fifth in the preliminaries in 1:36.74.
Sophomore
Isabella Barrientos was the top finisher for the Bears in the 500 freestyle, taking sixth in the B final and 15
th overall in 5:02.62. Barrientos shaved two seconds off her preliminary time of 5:04.62.
First-year
Rin Iimi was the top finisher for WashU in the 200 IM, finishing seventh in the B final and 16
th overall with a time of 2:07.07.
Leng was the top finisher for the Bears in the 50 freestyle, racing to a 16
th-place time of 24.34.
WashU's team of Caroline Deluca,
Emily Guo, Klein and
Anna Fonda finished sixth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:54.19, besting its preliminary time of 3:54.81.
Junior
Abby Liff raced a time trial in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:24.59.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow with day two of the Denison Invitational. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m. The WashU divers head to Grinnell for a two-day meet beginning at 5:30 p.m.
