Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Edged at No. 2 Chicago in Regular Season Finale

 Chicago, Ill. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision on the road on Saturday afternoon at No. 2 Chicago in University Athletic Association play. 
 
With the loss, the Bears conclude the regular season with a record of 6-6-2 and finish league play with a 2-3-2 record, while the No. 2 Maroons move to 16-0-1, (6-0-1, UAA). 
 
Despite being held to zero shots in the first half, WashU's defense held its own and kept the contest scoreless thanks to three saves from goalkeeper Matt Martin
 
WashU's first recorded shot of the contest came early in the second half following a corner kick from Owen Culver. Rabee Haidari registered two shots for the Bears, with one shot landing high, as the other shot was blocked. 
 
The Bears continued to play well on the defensive end, fending off five different shot attempts, as they made things difficult for the Maroon's attack.
 
With 15 minutes to play, the match remained scoreless and time was winding down, but Chicago would finally break the scoreless tie and scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute to take a 1-0 lead. 
 
WashU was outshot by a margin of 12-3 on Saturday and finished with only one shot-on-goal. 
 
The lone shot-on-goal came from John Daniels in the 90th minute, as the Bears tried to send the game to overtime, but the shot attempt was saved by Chicago's keeper. 
 
Martin posted five saves in goal in the loss, as he finished with 57 saves throughout the season. 
 
WashU concludes the regular season finishing 5-0-2 at home and 1-6 on the road.
