Bloomington, Ill. – The No. 20 women's swimming and diving team won the Illinois Wesleyan Invite on Saturday afternoon. The Bears racked up 145 points, beating IWU (75) and Principia (20).
WashU started the day strong with a win in the 200 medley relay as the team of
Ali Roche,
Riyapreet Sahota,
Mikayla Klein and
Noelle DiClemente swam to a time of 1:52.77.
The Bears followed that up with the top four spots in the 200 freestyle, led by first-year
Anna Fonda with a time of 1:54.11.
Ali Roche finished second with a time of 1:58.79 while
Isabella Barrientos finished third in 1:59.66.
Kiara Crumbley rounded out the top four with a time of 2:05.09.
First-year
Rin Iimi led the way in the 200 IM, winning the field in 2:12.99. Senior
Emily Guo took second in 2:16.27 while
Alice Han took third in 2:16.35.
Lauren Antonowich swam to a fourth-place time of 2:16.77 and
Alice Mao rounded out the top five with a time of 2:17.00.
WashU swept the top seven spots in the 50 freestyle, led by first-year
Andrea Leng who won in 25.36. DiClemente took second in 25.39 and
Yasmeen Ibrahim finished third in 26.17.
Kayleigh Lewis took fourth with a time of 26.29 and
Lauren Waire rounded out the top five in 26.32.
First-year
Avery Dixon won the 100 butterfly, racing to a time of 1:00.68. Klein finish second in 1:02.08 and
Caroline DeLuca took third with a time of 1:04.32.
Lewis won the field in the 100 freestyle, swimming to a first-place time of 55.66. Waire finished second in 55.93 and DiClemente took fourth in 56.41. Leng completed the top five with a time of 56.42.
Iimi won her second race of the day, claiming the top spot in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15.11. Fonda took second in 5:16.88 and Antonowich finished third in 5:29.76. Crumbley finished fourth with a time of 5:31.75.
Han took first in the 100 backstroke, winning in 1:01.24.
Grace Uldrich also finished in the top five, taking fifth in 1:03.78.
Sahota won the 100 backstroke, racing to a time of 1:08.51.
Abby Liff finished third in 1:09.65 while Guo took fourth in 1:09.99 and Roche finished fifth in 1:10.77.
The Bears closed out the swimming portion of the day with a win in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Antonowich, Fonda, Leng and Lewis raced to a time of 1:42.08 for the win.
In diving action,
Noa Miller won the 1-meter board with 396.25 points.
Rosie Finglass finished second with a score of 373.45.
Finglass went on to win the 3-meter board with a score of 238.70. Miller claimed second with 218.55 points.
The Bears are back in action Dec. 1-3. The swimmers will head to the Denison University Invitational while diving will head to the Grinnell College Invitational.
