Box Score Greencastle, Ind. Sept. 14, 2019 – Junior Ellie DeConinck had two goals to help lead the No. 10-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team to a 4-1 win at DePauw University Saturday in the DePauw Challenge Cup in Greencastle, Ind.
WashU improved to 4-1-1 with the victory, while DePauw fell to 2-4.
The Bears take on the winner of Rhodes College and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the championship match of the DePauw Challenge Cup.
DeConinck scored a pair of goals in a 2:03 span late in the first half to give the Bears the 2-0 lead. Senior Taylor Cohen found the back of the net in the 43rd minute to make it 3-0 at half. WashU outshot DePauw 13-0 in the opening half.
Junior Kristen Reikersdorfer added a goal on an assist from Cohen in the 81st minute to round out the scoring.
WashU outshot DePauw 24-2 and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior goalkeeper Emma Greenfield (4-1-1) picked up the win in goal.
BEAR NOTEBOOK: WashU leads the all-time series with DePauw 13-2, and the Bears have won the last five meetings … The win for head coach Jim Conlon was the 290th of his career … The goal for Cohen was the 38th of her career, while Greenfield picked up the 38th win of her career … Cohen moved sole possession of seventh place on the all-time WashU list for goals scored … DeConinck upped her career total to 15 goals.
