Box Score Cleveland, Ohio, Oct. 12, 2018 – The No. 1-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 2-0 win at Case Western Reserve University Friday in Cleveland.
WashU improved to 12-0 and 3-0 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while Case dropped to 6-5 and 0-3 in the UAA. The Bears are off to a 12-0 start for the second time in school history, joining the 2000 team.
WashU outshot Case 21-1, and did not allow a shot on goal for the seventh time this season. The Bears also had a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bears took the 1-0 lead in the 25thminute after freshman Erin Flynn headed in a cross from senior Darcy Cunningham. The goal for Flynn was her fourth of the season, while Cunningham's assist was her sixth of the season.
WashU had a 13-0 shot advantage in the first half.
Cunningham had a chance inside the six in the 70thminute but Case goalkeeper Lauren Metz came up with a big save.
Sophomore Kristen Reikersdorfer scored the insurance goal for WashU in the 80thminute when she fired a shot from 32 yards out in to the far corner. The goal for Reikersdorfer was the first of her career.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Greenfield (12-0) and the WashU defense recorded the 12thshutout of the year.
WashU takes on No. 21 Carnegie Mellon University (7-4-1, 0-3 UAA) Sunday, Oct. 14, at 1:30 p.m. (ET) in Pittsburgh.
