Roni Knittig

During her first year as a head coach at Fontbonne, Knittig had a 25-18 overall record and a 13-5 conference record with their season coming to an end as a SLIAC championship runner-up. Five student-athletes earned a spot in the SLIAC All-Conference Team, two were named SLIAC All-Tournament, and two were selected CSC Academic All-District.

In 2024, her team posted a 22-20 record that led them to the SLIAC championship round where they fell to Greenville. Although not advancing to the NCAA tournament, the Griffins were regular season SLIAC champions and also had an Academic All-American in pitcher, Hailey Kutz. 

The Barnhart, Mo., native, appeared in 182 games at Fort Hays State. She finished her career with a .252 clip, 94 hits, 44 runs scored, 16 doubles, eight homers and 46 RBI. Her breakout season was in 2017 where she posted a .288 average, 46 hits, 19 runs scored, 11 doubles, four homers and 26 RBI.

Roni will be mainly assisting the Bears in defense, especially the infield. Under her guidance as an assistant with Coach Cromwell at Fontbonne, the Griffins were able to turn the most double plays in the country in the 2021-2022 season.
