Bridget McCann was named the Washington University in St. Louis Director of Athletics Communications on April 23, 2021.

McCann is responsible for guiding Athletics Communications efforts at WashU including the management of washubears.com and the WashU Sports Network, serving as the department's official media liaison, leading the communications professional and student staff, and serving as the steward of the Bears' statistics and historical records.

In her first year leading the communications unit, McCann successfully guided WashU's website transition from Presto to SIDEARM Sports, completely overhauling the look and functionality of washubears.com. In November 2022, WashU followed up with the launch of its brand new mobile app through SIDEARM Sports, available through the App Store and Google Play.

In September 2022, McCann was announced as part of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship Program Class of 2022-23, in partnership with the Knight Commission.

McCann came to WashU from Ithaca College where she was an Athletic Communications Associate since 2017. At Ithaca, McCann served as the primary contact for men's and women's soccer, men's and women's crew, women's sculling, women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, and softball.

McCann was responsible for the public relations for her assigned sports, maintaining the Ithaca Athletics website and managing game day communications functions such as stat keeping and overseeing live streaming. She was also involved in creative projects for the Bombers, including publication design, social media graphics, and video. McCann also managed and mentored Ithaca's Athletic Communications student staff.

Prior to Ithaca, McCann served two years as a graduate assistant in the Athletics Communications Office at Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). She was the primary contact for women's volleyball, women's fencing and men's and women's tennis at FDU and served as the live stream producer for all home events. She earned her Master's of Sports Administration degree from FDU in April 2017.

Prior to her time at FDU, McCann spent two and-a-half years as a sports reporter for The Coast Star newspaper in Manasquan, N.J.

McCann graduated from Centenary College (now University) in Hackettstown, N.J., in 2012 with a degree in communications: print journalism and a minor in marketing. She was a four-year member of the women's basketball team while at Centenary.

Raised in Keyport, N.J., she now resides in St. Louis with her wife, Sara, and their dogs, Rosa and Benson.
