Jonathan Koch enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Washington University in St. Louis cross country and track & field programs in 2017-18.

WashU experienced unparalleled success in 2017 as the women won the first Indoor and Outdoor National Titles in program history. The WashU women's cross country team also posted a trophy finish by placing second.

During the 2015 cross country season, he helped the Bears capture the women's University Athletic Association (UAA) title and the men to a second place finish. In the 2015 NCAA National Championships, the WashU women placed fifth and the men finished in 16th place.

Track & field swept the UAA titles during the 2015 season in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Both indoor track & field programs placed in the top 10 of the NCAA Championships for the first time in school history, with the women placing third overall. The women's outdoor team also placed third at the NCAA Championships.

Koch joined the Bears' staff after serving as the assistant varsity cross country, swimming and track & field coach at Wesleyan School in Atlanta for three years. While at Wesleyan School, he helped guide four teams to Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state championships, while also coaching multiple individual state champions.

As an undergraduate at Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., Koch was a four-year member of the cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams from 2007-11. He was an academic all-conference honoree. A native of Baltimore, Md., Koch was a four-time captain for the cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams at Gilman School.

Koch graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from Davidson in May 2011. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in English literature at Washington University.
