Sarah Kruger joins the Washington University cross country coaching staff as an assistant for the 2024 season. Sarah was previously an assistant coach for the women’s distance athletes on the Kirkwood High School track and field team for 2 seasons (2014 and 2015). She also completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2015 and has taught yoga classes at the WashU Sumers Recreation Center in addition to other settings. 

Sarah was born in St. Louis, MO and grew up in Loveland, OH. In 2020, Sarah was inducted into the Loveland High School Hall of Fame for her athletic achievements in cross country and track. Sarah graduated from WashU in 2014 where she ran on the  cross country and track and field teams. Sarah was the UAA Cross Country Rookie of the Year in 2010 and the UAA indoor 5k champion in 2012. Sarah was an All-American on the 2011 women’s cross country team that won the program’s first NCAA Division III national championship, and their team was inducted into the WashU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020.

Sarah is a licensed clinical social worker and is married to WashU alum and assistant coach, Matt Kruger. Sarah continues to enjoy running and has run all six World Marathon Majors.
