St. Louis, Mo., August 8, 2019 – The Washington University in St. Louis football team was picked fourth in the 2019 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Annual Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced Thursday by the conference office.
WashU was selected fourth out of 10 teams with 57 points. North Central (Ill.) received seven first-place votes and were picked to defend its 2018 conference title.

Head coach Larry Kindbom returns 13 starters and 84 letterwinners from last year's team that recorded an 8-2 overall record in the program's first season as an associate member in the CCIW. The Bears finished third in the league with a 7-2 mark.
Voting is done by the CCIW's head football coaches. Each coach votes for the nine other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (nine points for first, eight for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.
WashU opens the 2019 season on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the University of Chicago, followed by the CCIW opener on Saturday, Sept. 21, at home against No. 5 North Central. The Bears take on three teams ranked in the D3football.com Top-25 Poll: #5 North Central (Sept. 21), at No. 22 Wheaton (Oct. 19) and No. 15 Illinois Wesleyan (Oct. 26).
