American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification – Upcoming Courses!
Open to members and non-members

This blended learning course includes online modules to be completed in advance, followed by in-person lectures and hands-on skill practice. Participants will learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies, as well as provide care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive. The course begins with a required prerequisite swim test on the first day. Only those who successfully pass the pre-requisite will be eligible to continue with the certification course. Participants who do not pass may reapply for a future course. Those who complete all components successfully will earn an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

Successful participants are eligible for immediate hire as a lifeguard with WashU Rec!
