POLICIES:
  1. No use of Sumers Recreation Center facilities or its equipment is permitted outside of the designated operating hours without express written permission from Recreation Administrative staff and the presence of Recreation Staff Members.
  2. Proper athletic attire must be worn while participating in activity areas. Shirts, shoes, and pants/ shorts are required. 
  3. Closed-toed athletic shoes are required at all times.
  4. Disinfect and wipe down all equipment thoroughly after use.
  5. Re-rack all plates, dumbbells and other equipment when you are finished using it. Do not leave loose plates or dumbbells on the floor. Unused equipment should always be properly racked.
  6. Use lock collars on all load-bearing barbell exercises.
  7. Do not drop weights on the floor.
  8. Only bumper plates are permitted on the Olympic platforms.
  9. When performing overhead lifts on the Olympic platforms, control the bar and maintain contact with it whenever possible.
  10. Powdered chalk is prohibited.
  11. Spitting on the floor or in the drinking fountains is prohibited.
  12. Backpacks and other personal items are not permitted in activity areas. Store all belongings in temporary lockers. WashU Rec is not responsible for any lost or stolen belongings.
  13. Glass bottles and open containers are prohibited in the facility. Only plastic bottles and beverage containers with lids are permitted.
  14. Water is the only beverage permitted. Other beverages such as sports drinks, protein shakes, smoothies, and pre or post-workout drinks are not permitted.
  15. Food of any kind is not permitted in activity areas.
  16. Report equipment damage or any facility-related injuries to a facility host.
  17. Personal training and private lessons are not permitted in the facility unless properly arranged through WashU Rec.
  18. Alcohol and use of tobacco products is prohibited in the facility.
  19. It is the responsibility of the equipment borrower to return all borrowed items by closing on the same day they are checked out. Failure to do so will result in a replacement fee being assessed on the borrowers recreation account.
  20. Photography and filming are not permitted in the facility without approval from the WashU Rec administrative staff.
Recreation staff members have the final say in policy interpretation and enforcement. Failure to comply with any of these policies may result in temporary or permanent loss of recreation privileges.Â
