ALUMNI:
At Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), alumni members are granted access to the university's recreational facilities only upon completion of a degree. This policy ensures that access to the recreational center is reserved for individuals who have been formally affiliated with the university through academic achievement. By restricting access to alumni who have earned a degree, WashU maintains a supportive environment for current students while still providing opportunities for graduates to stay connected to the university community and its resources.
SPOUSE/PARTNER MEMBERSHIPS:
Any spouse or partner that resides at the same address as a WashU student, faculty/staff, basic services contractor, or retiree is eligible to purchase a membership. For an alumni spouse/partner enrollment, the alumni sponsor must have an active membership. To enroll in a membership, the WashU "sponsor" must accompany the spouse/partner to the Sumers Rec Center and provide official documentation demonstrating shared residency and relationship. Proof of relationship is a legal or financial document. (Examples of proof of relationship: marriage license, voided checks from a joint checking account). Spouse/partner members will be issued an access card they must present at the entrance during each visit. Renewals for spouse/partner memberships must be made in person at the member services desk inside the Sumers Rec Center.
COLLEGE DEPENDENT MEMBERSHIPS:
This membership is for individuals currently enrolled at a different college or university but residing at the same address as a WashU affiliate, such as a professional student, faculty/staff member, basic services contractor, retiree, or alumni. In the legal sense, a "dependent" refers to someone who relies on another person, typically for financial support, such as a child or household member. For this membership, the dependent must live with and rely on the WashU affiliate for residency purposes.
To enroll, the WashU sponsor must accompany the dependent to the Sumers Rec Center and provide documentation proving they share the same residence. The dependent must also show a valid student ID from their institution. After enrollment, the dependent will receive an access card, which must be presented at each visit. Membership renewals must be made in person at the member services desk inside the Sumers Rec Center.
