No. 7 WashU Finishes 5th at NCAA Championships, Cards Tournament-Low Score on Final Day

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis golf team carded a tournament-low 277 on the final day of the NCAA Championship, finishing fifth with a 1,175 (304, 290, 304, 277) and moving up four spots from day three.
 
This marks the second year in a row the Bears finished fifth, the third time in four years in the top five and the fourth time in five years in the top 10.
 
The championship was held at the Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, Calif. Competition was held on two courses: Firecliff which is a par 72 course that spans 7,056 yards and Mountain View which is a par 72 course that spans 6,913 yards.
 
Junior Amy Beanblossom led the way for the Bears, tying for 12th with a 291 (74, 72, 74, 71).
 
First-year Saxon Skinner tied for 36th with a 297 (81, 70, 79, 67). Her final-round 67 was a tournament-low.
 
First-year Jessy Young tied for 46th with a 298 (74, 72, 75 77) and senior Athena Nguyen finished 63rd with a 301 (79, 76, 76, 70).
 
Junior Nicole McGuire moved up 26 spots, finishing 93rd with a 306 (77, 76, 84, 69).
