ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Playing in its third match in three days, the No. 32 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team knocked off No. 24 Carnegie Mellon in the fifth-place match at the 2025 UAA Championship on Sunday morning.

Pato Garcia Muriel got things started at the top doubles spot with a 6-3 win. Finishing right behind them were senior

Drew Koval, who also claimed an identical 6-3 win at number two doubles to clinch the doubles point and give WashU a 1-0 lead.
In singles, the Tartans were able to tie the score with a straight-sets win at number five. It was the only singles match to end after two sets.
Hester put the Bears back in front with his three-set win, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at number three. CMU answered with their win at number one singles in three sets. After that, it was all WashU. Junior
Eric Kuo dropped his first set at number two singles before rebounding for the 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win to put the Bears ahead 3-2.
Yamamoto clinched the win for WashU, winning in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
WashU will now wait to see if they have earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is scheduled for Monday, May 5 at 11:30 am CT. The team finals, as well as the singles and doubles tournaments, will take place May 20-27, 2025 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.
