TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. - Three from the No. 12 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team wrapped up play in the NCAA Individual Championships, Sunday, May 26.
Due to weather, the singles and doubles portions were played indoors at Woodsmill Tennis Club.
In the singles round of 32, No. 24 senior Jared Phillips won the opening set against No. 12 Swarthmore College's Michael Melnikov 6-3. However, Melnikov utilized a strong service game in the second and third sets to defeat Phillips, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
No. 10 Senior Gaurav Singh and sophomore Colin Fox took on No. 15 Rishi Shankar Charan and Peter Lesse from the University of Mary Washington in the doubles quarterfinal round. Singh and Fox dropped their match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The Bears are set to return to the courts in the fall.
