No. 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Topped by McKendree

Lebanon, Ill. – The No. 10 Washington University in St. Louis men's swimming and diving team fell to Division II McKendree 178.00-102.00 on Saturday afternoon.
 
In the first race of the day, the 400 medley relay, the Bears team of Alex McCormick, Nathan Lin, Austin Bick and Justin Rockaway finished fourth with a time of 3:28.02 while the team of Kyle Wolford, Devin Bunner, Matthew Walker and Mark Lipkin took fifth in 3:32.41.
 
Orluke Borjigin was the top Bears' finisher in the 1,000 freestyle, taking second in 9:47.32. JP Vanderloo finished sixth in 10:06.09.
 
Ethan Feng won the 200 freestyle, racing to a time of 1:41.66 while Danny Sibley finished third in 1:43.12.
 
McCormick was the top finisher for WashU in the 100 backstroke, finished third in 51.37.
 
The Bears finished third through sixth in the 100 breaststroke, led by Rockaway in third with a time of 59.24. Kai Taft took fourth in 59.24 and Bunner finished fifth with a time of 59.95. Max Balon tied for sixth with a time of 1:00.42.
 
Walker was the top finisher for the Bears in the 200 butterfly and Marco Minai took fourth with a time of 1:56.59. Ryan Hillery rounded out the top five with a time of 1:56.81.
 
Bick took fourth in the 50 freestyle, racing to a time of 21.66 while Lin finished fifth in 22.00.
                                                                                                                                        
Taft was the top finisher for WashU in the 100 freestyle, racing to a time of 47.20.
 
McCormick led the Bears in the 200 backstroke, finishing third in 1:54.06 while Wolford took fourth in 1:54.83 and Minai finished fifth in 1:54.94.
 
Balon was the top finisher for the Bears in the 200 breaststroke, swimming to a second-place time of 2:10.67. Bunner took third in 2:11.51 and Bert Wang finished fourth with a time of 2:14.67. William Little rounded out the top five with a time of 2:15.52.
 
Matthew Giardinelli took second in the 500 freestyle, swimming to a time of 4:43.70. Brendan Long took fifth in 4:51.24.
 
Walker finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.39 while Connor Kwiatkowski took fourth in 52.57 and Lipkin finished fifth in 53.38.
 
Sibley won the 400 IM, racing to a time of 4:04.15. Minai finished second in 4:08.74 and Hillery took third in 4:11.06 and Wang took fourth with a time of 4:17.95.
 
The Bears' team of Feng, Rockaway, Lin and Bick won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.84. The team of McCormick, Lipkin, Pace Edwards and Sibley took second in 1:26.94 and the team of Tommy Moul, Reece Bends, Hillery and Taft took third with a time of 1:27.11.
 
WashU is back in action next weekend with a 1 p.m. meet on Saturday at DePauw.
