St. Louis, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis softball team defeated Carnegie Mellon 2-0 on Sunday to close out the UAA series. The Bears win the series 3-1 and improve to 13-15 overall with a 5-7 mark in conference play.
After five-and-a-half scoreless innings, the Bears finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth innings to score two runs. With one out,
Katie Gould drilled a double to right center and moved up to third on a sac bunt from
Erin Reardon.
Natalia Pilpil singled through the left side to score Gould.
Ashley Kennedy followed with a double to right center to score Pilpil.
Gould finished 2-for-3 with one run scored while Pilpil went 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
Olivia Craycraft went 1-for-2 and Kennedy finished 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Jordan Rossi earned her second win of the weekend for improve to 5-3 on the season, pitching a complete game with just three hits to go with four strikeouts.
The Bears head to Emory for a four-game series next weekend starting on Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
