Kenneth Hamilton and senior men's cross country runner
Jeff Candell were named Athletes of the Week in their respective sports, as announced by the CCIW and UAA on Monday afternoon.
Hamilton was named CCIW Offensive Player of the Week after a stellar weekend in which he scored four touchdowns in the Bears 49-28 win over Augustana. Hamilton led WashU with 144 rushing yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns. He also totaled 36 yards on five receptions and scored a touchdown. In total, Hamilton has scored 11 rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns during his breakout sophomore season. He is currently third in Division III with 8.33 rush yards per carry.
This weekend at the 40
th Annual Brissman-Lundeen Invite hosted by Augustana, Candell finished 19
th with a time of 24:17.2, registering a new personal record to lead the Bears to a fourth-place finish.
