St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 9, 2019 – Washington University in St. Louis had four student-athletes named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week for their respective sports, as announced by the Association Monday.
Senior Samantha Haubenstock of the No. 9-ranked women's golf team, sophomore back Alistair Shaw of the men's soccer team and senior quarterback Johnny Davidson and senior linebacker Jarrod Huther of the football team each earned the honor.
Haubenstock earned co-medalist honors with teammate Annie Mascot as the Bears shot a 36-hole school record to win the Rhodes Classic in Memphis. She fired a two-day total of 139 (66-73) to break the 36-hole school record by one stroke. Haubenstock also tied the single-round record with a 66 on day one.
Shaw anchored the WashU back line during a 2-0 win Friday at home vs. Pacific Lutheran. Shaw and the WashU defense limited the Lutes to five shots for the game, including just three shots on goal.
Davidson was 26-of-38 for 341 yards and tied a career-high with five touchdowns as WashU had 561 yards of total offense in a 43-7 win at the University of Chicago Saturday. He connected on 24-of-35 for 250 yards and four touchdowns as WashU led 30-7 at half.
Huther had 15 tackles, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble in the win at Chicago. Huther and the WashU defense limited Chicago to 278 yards of total offense and forced five punts.
