Women’s Soccer to Host NCAA First & Second Rounds

St. Louis, Mo., Nov. 5, 2018 The Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team will host 2018 NCAA Division III First and Second Round play on Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 10-11, at Francis Field in St. Louis. This marks the third-straight season and 13th WashU has hosted first-round action.

No. 1 WashU and Westminster College will square off in a first round game Saturday at 5 p.m., followed by Illinois Wesleyan University and Mount St. Joseph University at 7:30 p.m. The winners of Saturday's games will meet Sunday at 6 p.m. for a berth into the Sectional Semifinals.

WashU (17-0) won its fourth-straight University Athletic Association (UAA) title to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bears are one of two undefeated teams in NCAA Division III.

WashU is making its 13th-consecutive and 18th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bears have a 35-14-8 (.684) record in NCAA Tournament play, and was the 2016 NCAA Division III National Champions. The Bears had runner-up finishes in 2009 and 2015, and also made a Final Four appearance in 1997.

Westminster (11-4-3) defeated Greenville 3-2 in double overtime on Saturday to claim its second St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. The Bluejays have an 0-1 record in the NCAA Tournament.

Illinois Wesleyan (13-4-2) earned the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) title with a 5-4 shootout victory over No. 12 Wheaton on Saturday. The Titans have a 10-8-3 record in 10 previous trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Mount St. Joseph (16-2-3) captured the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championship with a 3-0 victory at No. 14 Hanover. The Lions are making their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance, with an all-time record of 1-5-1.

All three games will be broadcast live on the WashU Sports Network, along with live stats on the WashU Athletics website. Tickets will be $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for students, children and seniors, and kids under 2 are free. Gates will open one hour before kickoff.
