St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 10, 2016 – The No. 2-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team ran its home winning streak to 13 games with a 3-0 victory over No. 11 Calvin College Saturday at Francis Field in St. Louis.
WashU improved to 4-0 with the win, while Calvin fell to 2-2.
The Bears struck in the 17th minute after junior Megan Renken finished off a flick in the box from senior Megan Nicklay to make it 1-0. Sophomore Darcy Cunningham was also credited with an assist on the play after sending the cross into the box. The goal for Renken was her second of the season.
WashU dominated play in the opening 45 minutes of play outshooting Calvin 11-0 and the Bears had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Myers added an unassisted goal in the 86th minute with a shot from 25 yards out to the far corner to round out the scoring.
Senior Lizzy Crist posted the shutout in goal as WashU outshot Calvin 25-1. The Bears also had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
WashU closes out a three-game homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 13, against Greenville College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Francis Field. The game will be broadcast live on the Bear Sports Network.
