Marke Freeman is in her second season as the WashU women's basketball full-time assistant coach in 2018-19.

WashU earned its 29th-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament during Freeman's first year on the bench. The Bears finished the year with a 19-8 record while advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Freeman joined the Bears after previously serving as a director of the Point Guard College for four years. She also served as the graduate assistant coach with Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City for two years.

The Springfield, Ill.-native was a standout Division I student-athlete while attending Northern Illinois University garnering multiple All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) honors. She was named the MAC Sixth Player of the Year in 2008-09, and capped off her collegiate career by averaging 16.1 points per game in 2010-11.

She ranks 14th all-time in Northern Illinois scoring history, despite playing just three years after transferring from Florida A&M, with 1,257 points. Freeman’s career free-throw percentage of 83.3% also ranks third all-time in Huskies history.

Following graduation from Northern Illinois, with a degree in communications, Freeman continued to excel on the court as a professional. She played two years overseas with the Tecza of Leszno, Poland, where she averaged 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals to earn Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the PLKK All-Star team. 

Freeman’s primary responsibilities will include guard player development, recruiting and scouting, as well as game and practice strategy and preparation.
